This collection is fully dedicated to Sepia officinalis, otherwise known as the Common Cuttlefish.
Beautiful ridged pendants, rings and earrings are created by using an ancient technique:
A pattern is scraped into two cuttlebone halves.
These are used as a mould, hot metal is poured through an opening.
Once cooled down the cast metal piece can be removed
and the amazing structure of natural growth-rings becomes visible instantly.

And this is how the collection is being made:
The cuttlefish-bones are supplied by the Dorset fishermen of Christchurch Fish https://www.dorsetfish.co.uk/
(They also have amazingly fresh fish and shellfish at their stalls on Saturdays at South Kensington and Notting Hill farmers markets!)
